Obiettivi formativi
Al termine del 1° anno di corso la/lo studentessa/studente deve:
- acquisire, comprendere ed analizzare le strutture grammaticali della lingua Inglese per sviluppare una buona conoscenza della sintassi e del lessico;
- conoscere ed applicare la corretta terminologia tecnica e medico-scientifica riguardante le scienze infermieristiche ed ostetriche;
- leggere e tradurre dall’inglese un testo di carattere medico-scientifico;
- comprendere un semplice brano di ascolto.
At the end of the 1° year the student is expected to:
- acquire, interpret and analyze basic grammatical structures of the English language in order to develop a satisfactory understanding of the lexical, syntactic and morphological components;
- understand and learn technical and medical-scientific terminology regarding nursing and obstetrics;
- read and translate from English into Italian a medical scientific text;
- understand short, simple listening texts.

- applicare le sue conoscenze leggendo e traducendo dall'inglese testi scientifici;

Programma
Durante il corso si tratteranno i seguenti argomenti:
- grammatica di base della lingua inglese, con particolare attenzione alle forme usate più frequentemente nella letteratura scientifica;
- funzioni linguistiche principali;
- funzioni linguistiche orientate a tematiche sanitarie ed assistenziali;
- lessico specifico dell’ambiente medico-assistenziale;
- argomenti scientifici ed infermieristiche.
The following topics will be dealt with during the course:
- basic grammar of the English language, focusing on the most common forms used in medical English;
- main linguistic functions;
- linguistic functions focusing on health care topics, evidence-based nursing and obstetrics;
- very specific medical scientific vocabulary;
- medical, clinical and nursing topics.

Modalità di insegnamento
L’insegnamento si articola in un modulo che prevede 20 ore di lezione di didattica frontale (2 CFU).
Durante il corso verranno adottate le seguenti forme didattiche:
Insegnamento frontale orientato alla didattica interattiva. Comprensione di lettura ed ascolto con esercizi inerente la comprensione ed esercizi di grammatica, traduzioni ed analisi di testi con esercizi di domande vero/falso, gap fills e domande aperte.
The teaching module will consist of 20 hours of formal in-class lecture time (2 credits).
The following teaching methods will be adopted:
Frontal and formal interactive teaching by means of reading/listening and comprehensions, translations and analyses of medical texts with true/false questions, gap fills, grammar exercises, multiple choice questions, Use of English and open questions.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
La prova scritta consiste in:
- Reading and Comprehension con diversi tipi di esercizi, e.g. Gap Fills, Use of English, domande a scelta multipla, domande Vero/Falso sul testo, Cercare i sinonimi e domande aperte.
La prova orale consiste in:
- Esposizione da parte della/dello studentessa/studente della sua esperienza di tirocinio, patologia e/o un apparato, etc.
Per il superamento dell’esame scritto bisogna ottenere il 70 percento in ogni sua parte diversamente non si potrà accedere alla prova orale
The written test includes:
- Reading and Comprehension with different exercises, e.g. Gap fills, Use of English, multiple choice questions, true/false statements on the text, find the synonyms and open questions.
The oral test includes:
- Discussion of training experience, disease and/or body system, etc.
Students must achieve a minimum grade of 70 percent in each and every part of the written exam in order to take the oral exam.
A Pass/Fail Grading System will be used to assess students' written and oral language skills.

Ulteriori esercitazioni scritte ed orali con gli insegnanti dell’attività complementare potranno essere svolte se ritenute necessarie.
Further written and oral drills will be carried out by the assistants during the optional lessons if deemed necessary.
